Hello DCC Dolphins!

After two weeks of practice the time has come to incorporate virtual swim meets. Virtual swim meets will essentially be a scaled down version of a traditional summer league swim meet. These virtual meets will be like a weekly time trial in format. Coaches (with some help from parent volunteers) will record the times of swimmers at practice. We will then exchange those times with our opponents electronically and produce a results report. While this is not the same exciting experience of racing against a swimmer from another team, it is a way to engage is some friendly competition.

There is no need to clarify with the coaching staff if your child will participate in any of our virtual swim meets. If a swimmer is at practice during our virtual meet, then then they will participate. Conversely, a swimmer will miss the virtual meet if they do not attend practice that day.

Below are important details about the virtual swim meets which will begin next week.

• For summer 2020 DCC will participate in three virtual swim meets over the final three weeks of the season.
• Virtual swim meets will take place during regular practice times on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and possibly Fridays of each week.
  • Specific dates for each week of virtual swim meets –
    • Virtual meet 1 DCC vs Brittany Club
      • Wednesday 7/1, Thursday 7/2, Friday 7/3 if needed.
    • Virtual meet 2 DCC vs The Branches
      • Wednesday 7/8, Thursday 7/9, Friday 7/10 if needed.
    • Virtual meet 3 DCC vs Chastain
      • Wednesday 7/15, Thursday 7/16, Friday 7/17 if needed.
• The DCC swim season will end on Friday 7/17. The final week of DCC swim team for summer 2020 will begin on Tuesday 7/14, with the final practice of the season occurring on Friday 7/17.

As mentioned above, we will need a few parent volunteers from each 25-minute swim practice group to help record times. Coaches will ask parents to help the day before or the morning of our virtual meet.
